1 ports (located on the keyboard), two FireWire ports
(one each of the 400 and 800 versions), one 10/100/1000Base-T (Gigabit) Ethernet port, an audio
in/optical digital audio in port, a headphone out/optical digital audio out port, and a Mini-DVI
port (for connecting additional monitors or a projector). A built-in iSight camera, microphone,
and slot-loading CD/DVD drive round out the list (see Figure 1-2).
Mac mini
The Mac mini sports a surprisingly large number of ports for such a small device. As Figure 1-3
shows, it includes ports for FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 (four ports), video out (DVI),
audio in/optical digital audio in, and headphone out/optical digital audio out. There is also a slotloading
CD/DVD drive on the front panel of the Mac mini (see Figure 1-4).
MacBook
MacBooks come with an iSight camera and microphone built right in, along with a slot-loading
CD/DVD drive (see Figure 1-5). Available ports include FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet, Mini-DVI,
audio in/optical digital audio in, headphone out/optical digital audio out, and two USB version
