When buying a keyboard and mouse for your Mac
mini, just be certain that they use USB connections, not PS2. Another item to be aware
of is that Mac keyboards have two COMMAND keys, the icon for which looks like this: z.
The z keys are located on either side of the SPACEBAR. When shopping for a keyboard,
keep these keys in mind.
MacBooks use an entirely different technology called a trackpad (see Figure 1-9), but it
works on the same principle as a mouse. To use a trackpad, place a finger on the pad and move
it around on the surface; you will see the pointer on your screen move along with your finger.
To select an item that you are pointing at, click the trackpad button once; to open the item,
double-click the trackpad button. To simulate a right-click with the trackpad, hold down the CTRL
(CONTROL) key on the keyboard while clicking the trackpad button. You can use a USB mouse
with your MacBook if you prefer that instead of the trackpad.

16 How to Do Everything: Mac
What Version of the Mac OS Do You Have?
Even in today??™s computer-centric world, if you were to ask most people what OS their computer
uses, they would stare at you as if you were a seven-and-a-half-foot-tall Wookiee who just
stepped off a Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-1300 freighter and pulled the ears off the
nearest gondar (just a little Star Wars lingo to keep the geeks interested).
