is by far the best bang for your computing buck. Some might argue that a ???free??? operating
system, namely Linux, is better due to the obvious: it??™s free! However, that old adage of ???you get
what you pay for??? rears its ugly head again. Don??™t get me wrong, Linux fans! Linux has come
light years from where it was just a short while ago, and I would encourage any experienced
computer user to give it a go, but it can??™t hold a candle to the seamless ease of use that Mac OS
X affords. This is mainly due to the fact that Mac OS X is developed by engineers who are paid
to make it the best of the best, and Linux is developed largely by volunteers.

To check what version of Mac OS X your Mac is running, simply choose Apple | About This
Mac (in other words, click the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen and click
About This Mac in the drop-down menu).
