"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Another way to open a Finder window is to choose File |
New Finder Window.
By default, Finder windows are arranged exactly as shown in Figure 3-1. The items identified
in Figure 3-1 are described in the following section.
CHAPTER 3: Cruisin??™: Navigating Your Mac 31
I??™m sure the red, yellow, and green buttons in the upper-left corner of the Finder windows have
gotten your attention by now. These buttons allow you to change the state of your Finder windows.
To close a window, click the red button. To minimize a window, click the yellow button, which
places the window in the Dock. To automatically resize the window, click the green zoom button.
A second way to minimize a window is by double-clicking the title bar of the window.
Did you notice the cool ???genie??? effect when you minimized your window? If you ever feel
like impressing your PC-using friends, try showing them a couple of neat tricks you can do
when minimizing windows. Hold down the SHIFT key when clicking the minimize button, and
the window ???pours??? itself very slowly into the Dock (see Figure 3-2).
