Get Around in a Finder Window
Let??™s explore the typical Finder window so that you are familiar with how to get around in it
easily and quickly. Look to Figure 3-1 for the placement of the following items in the Finder.
Some of these items are customizable, but we won??™t get that far until Chapter 4.
?– Toolbar The toolbar gives quick access to frequently performed tasks. You can hide
the toolbar by clicking the small oval (Hide Toolbar) button in the upper-right corner of
the Finder window.

?– Sidebar The sidebar provides fast access to items such as drives, folders, and network
devices.
?– Search field Perform quick searches for items in a particular drive or folder by typing
your search words in the search field.
?– Results window When you click an item in the sidebar, its contents are displayed in
this window.
