Set Finder Preferences
One thing you are about to discover about Macs is that, like a famous hamburger chain once told
us, you can have it your way. We all have preferences in how we like to perform our daily routines,
and your Mac allows you to let your preferences be known for quite a bit of its functionality.
The following is a list of the tabs in the Finder preferences pane with a brief description of the

preferences found on each tab. Check out how they all work and make whatever changes, if any,
that suit you best. To open the Finder preferences pane, choose Finder | Preferences.
?– General The General pane allows you to choose what items to show on the desktop,
such as hard drives, CDs/DVDs, or servers you may be connected to over your network
(more on that way down the road in Chapter 15). You can also choose which folder you
want new Finder windows to automatically open in. If you check the ???Always open
folders in a new window??? check box, an entirely new Finder window opens each time
you open a folder.
