CHAPTER 3: Cruisin??™: Navigating Your Mac 39
Get Information about Your Files and Folders
Sometimes you may need to know how large or small an item is, whether you have permissions
to access the item, and many other types of information that at first glance may seem to have no
real use for the typical user but in fact is very important to have available if you ever need it. To
get this valuable information for any item on your Mac, either right-click or CTRL-click the item??™s
icon and choose Get Info from the shortcut menu. Another method of getting this information is
to select the item and then choose File | Get Info.
The Get Info window that opens gives you a veritable cornucopia (I??™ve always wanted to say
that!) of information about that particular item, as shown in the example in Figure 3-5.
Your Wish Is My z!
There is yet a third way to open the Get Info window, but I wanted to show this to you
separately since it relates more to the general usage of your Mac than just to getting information.
