"How to Do Everything: Mac"

To empty the Trash, right-click or CTRL-click the Trash icon in
the Dock and choose ???Empty Trash??? from the menu.
If you see a message asking if you??™re sure you want to
empty the Trash, click OK to continue or click Cancel to
halt the action. If that window does open and you choose
to click OK, your Mac makes a sound like it??™s crumpling
paper and the Trash icon changes back to its empty state.
Once you??™ve emptied the Trash, you??™ve completed deletion
of the file.
CHAPTER 3: Cruisin??™: Navigating Your Mac 45
Until you empty the Trash, the file you placed in it can still be retrieved. To get a file from
the Trash, click the Trash icon. A Finder window opens, displaying the contents of the Trash. Just
drag the file from the Trash window and place it in the location desired.
Create Aliases
No, we??™re not about to learn Apple??™s version of international espionage, but rather how to create
an easy way to get to a file or folder you frequently use. An alias is basically a shortcut to a file
or folder that is elsewhere on your Mac.
A File Deleted from the Trash
Is Still on Your Hard Drive
Be aware that performing the steps to delete a file from the Trash does not completely
remove all traces of the file you deleted from your hard drive.
