"How to Do Everything: Mac"

To change the effect when
minimizing windows, choose Genie Effect or Scale Effect from this pop-up menu. Scale
Effect causes the entire window to ???shrink??? proportionally into the Dock.
?–  Animate opening applications Have you noticed that when you click the icon of
an application in the Dock, the icon bounces up and down as the application opens?
Checking or unchecking this box enables or disables these bouncing icons.
?–  Automatically hide and show the Dock If you don??™t like the Dock on your screen at
all, then check this box; the Dock then ???hides??? below your screen. Don??™t worry, it??™s not
gone forever! To retrieve the Dock, bring your mouse pointer all the way to the bottom
of the screen and hold it there until the Dock ???pops??? back up.
You can access many of the options in the Dock
preferences pane, shown here, by right-clicking or
CTRL-clicking the gap, or empty space, in the Dock.
