"How to Do Everything: Mac"

You
can create a space for your spreadsheet work, another for browsing the Web, a third for listening to
music, and yet another for watching a movie. Having multiple spaces keeps your desktop organized
and keeps you focused.
Create Spaces
Open the Expos?© & Spaces preferences pane and click the Spaces tab at the top of the pane
(see Figure 3-16).
CHAPTER 3: Cruisin??™: Navigating Your Mac 61
Checking the ???Enable Spaces??? check box turns on the Spaces functionality for your Mac,
while checking the ???Show spaces in menu bar??? check box places the number for the space you
are currently using in the menu bar.
You can easily switch between spaces by clicking the Spaces number in the menu bar and
selecting a different space number from the resulting list.

The default number of spaces is four, but you can add or subtract from that number at your
discretion. Click the + or ??’ buttons to add or remove rows and columns. You can have no less
than one and no more than four rows or columns, allowing a minimum of two spaces and a
