"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Check
the ???Change picture:??? check box at the bottom of the Desktop & Screen Saver preferences pane
and choose how often or in what manner you want the picture to change from the pop-up menu
to the right. Check the ???Random order??? check box if you want the Mac to choose randomly
which picture to display from the folder you??™ve selected.
If the picture you want to use for your desktop picture does not fit well on your screen, you
can change the way the picture is shown. In the upper-left corner of the Desktop tab is a small
preview of the picture you currently have selected. Just to the right of that preview is a pop-up
FIGURE 4-1 Desktop pics o??™ plenty!
72 How to Do Everything: Mac
menu that allows you to adjust the way the picture is displayed on your screen. Simply choose
the option you prefer from that menu.
Select a Screen Saver
Screen savers are really neat to watch, but beyond that they don??™t provide the same functionality
in today??™s world of LCDs (liquid crystal displays, the screen display technology used by your
iMac or MacBook) as they once did when CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors dominated the
computing landscape.
