"How to Do Everything: Mac"

To personalize an icon, follow these steps:
1. Find an item that uses the icon you want to use for your files or folders, click it to highlight
it, and then open the Get Info window (choose File | Get Info or press z-I) for the item.
2. In the Get Info window (see Figure 4-4 for an example), click the icon in the upper-left
corner and choose Edit | Copy (or press z-c). You??™ve just copied the icon to your Mac??™s
clipboard, which is a hidden storage area for items you are copying. Close this item??™s Get
Info window.

3. Find the item whose icon you desire to change, and open the Get Info window for it, as
in Step 1.
4. Click the item??™s icon in the upper-left corner of the Get Info window and choose Edit |
Paste or press z-v.
5. Close the Get Info window, and the item should now display with its new icon.
