"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Open System Preferences and click the Date &
Time icon. On the Date & Time tab, be sure to accurately set the date in the small calendar on
the left and set the time using the clock on the right. Alternatively, let your Mac set the time
automatically, by checking the box next to ???Set date and time automatically,??? then choosing the
nearest time server in the pop-up menu.
CHAPTER 4: Stylin??™ and Profilin??™! Customizing Your Mac 79
To make sure your time stays accurate, click the Time Zone tab and select your location on
the map.
You can change the way your clock is displayed in the menu bar by going to the Clock tab
and choosing one of the many options. The neatest option on the Clock tab is not a display option
but rather is the ???Announce the time??? option. For those of us who are too enthralled with our
work to glance at the upper-right corner of our screen to check the time, the Mac will actually
announce what time it is at the intervals specified. To further maximize the coolness factor, click
the Customize Voice button and try out all the available settings.
