90 How to Do Everything: Mac
The left side of the Parental Controls window lists all the standard and managed accounts for
your Mac. Select the account you want to alter from this list.
The Parental Controls preferences pane has five tabs: System, Content, Mail & iChat, Time
Limits, and Logs. Each tab contains different elements for securing access to your Mac and the
Internet. The following sections describe each of the tabs in turn.
System
Figure 4-8 shows the following options available on the System tab:
?–  Use Simple Finder Checking this box provides a much more basic user interface that is
perfectly suited to the less-experienced user. As shown here, the icons are larger (and can
be activated with just a single click) and the Dock has only a limited choice of folders:
?–  Only Allow Selected Applications Checking this box allows the user to access on
the Mac only the applications checked in the list of applications in the ???Check the
applications to allow??? area.
