"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Proceed as follows:
1. Enter your name, email address, and the password for your email account, and then click
Create or Continue here; clicking Cancel just closes Mail.
Whether you see Create or Continue on the ???Welcome to Mail??? page is determined
after you type in your email address. If Mail recognizes the ISP, the ???Automatically set
up account??? check box appears under the Password field. Checking the box changes
the Continue button to Create, and when you click it, Mail handles the upcoming
configuration settings automatically. If Mail doesn??™t recognize the ISP, you have to click
Continue and enter your information manually.
2. All account types, except .Mac, next see the Incoming Mail Server window. Choose
the account type, describe the account (for example, ???Work Email??? or ???Dwight??™s Home
Account???), and enter the address of your ISP??™s mail server, your username, and your
password.
CHAPTER 5: Getting Started on the Internet 103
The account types you can select from are your .Mac account, a POP account, IMAP, or an
Exchange account (typically used for corporate networks); I??™ll use POP for illustration purposes.
