"How to Do Everything: Mac"

The iMac and MacBook have video cameras built
right in, but the Mac mini requires an external FireWire
camera. You can video chat with any of your buddies who
have video chat capabilities on their Mac or PC. There is
no better and more intimate way for families to stay in touch across the miles, and the benefits
to businesses with executives in multiple offices around the country or the world are obvious.
Being able to see the person you are speaking with adds a more personal touch to long distance
conversations. And you can video chat with up to three people at once.
Open your Buddy List, select the name of the person you want to video chat with (if they
can video chat, there will be a camera icon next to their name), and then click the green camera
button in the upper-right corner of the Buddy List window to start the video chat.
114 How to Do Everything: Mac
As fun as video chatting is, Apple, being the creative folks that they are, thought it would
be a great idea to add a little fun to the video by adding special effects. These effects range from
funny distortions to placing pictures of exotic locations in the background.
