"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Learning these common tools of the trade can make it easier to adjust to any
application. For consistency??™s sake, you may want to use TextEdit (you used it earlier, in Chapter 3)
as your test application.
Launch an Application
Launching, or opening, an application is very simple: just double-click the application??™s icon.
Applications are typically located in the Applications directory at the root of the hard drive (Hard
Drive | Applications). An even easier way to get to the Applications folder is to choose Go |
Applications while in the Finder. The Go menu can take you to lots of other places quickly, too;
give it a look.
Your Mac??™s hard drive can be named anything you like. For demonstration purposes, I
will refer to your Mac??™s hard drive generically as ???Hard Drive??? throughout the book.
If you keep an icon for the application you want to open in the Dock, simply click its icon
once to open it. An application is already running if its Dock icon has a small arrow underneath it.

Find More Details about the Application
Sometimes you may need to know a bit more about the application you are using than just its
name.
