"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Before teaching you the power of copy and paste, you must first learn to
select the items you want to subject to your newly discovered talents.
For this example, we??™ll use TextEdit again. Open a new document and type www.apple.com on
the new page. Follow these steps to select that text, copy it, and then paste it into Safari??™s address
field, ultimately accessing Apple??™s outstanding website:
1. To select the text, click the space immediately in front of the first letter being copied,
continue to hold down the mouse button and drag over the entire line of text, and then
release the mouse button. You??™ve now highlighted the text, as indicated by the light-blue
color surrounding the text.
2. Right-click (or CTRL-click) the highlighted text and choose Copy or Cut from the list of
options. The Copy command copies the text to the clipboard yet leaves the text in the
original document; Cut moves the text to the clipboard and deletes it from the original
document. While you can??™t see the contents of the clipboard, rest assured that your Mac
knows what??™s there, and it??™s waiting for you to do something with the clipboard contents.
