"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Use the Save command to save changes you make to your
documents. The Save As option can be used to create a new document from the one you are
currently using. If you have not saved this particular document before, the Save command
functions like Save As, and prompts you to specify where to save the file on your hard drive and
what to name the file; of course, the choice of name and choice of where to save the document
are entirely up to you. As shown in Figure 6-2, the keyboard shortcut for Save is z-S; there
usually isn??™t a shortcut for the Save As command.
Save early and save often! Don??™t wait until you??™ve finished a document to save it; save
your files often while working on them so that you won??™t lose all of your information in
one fell swoop if the power goes out or you get abducted by aliens. The last thing you
want to do after an intergalactic space flight is retype this week??™s entire grocery list.
Open Documents
What good is saving your documents if you don??™t know how to open them? Thankfully, opening
a document is one of the easiest things to do on your Mac.
