Select a Template
As is the case for the other two iWork applications, Numbers presents you with a slew of
preconfigured spreadsheet templates to choose from. Select a template from the Template
Chooser window, which opens when you first start Numbers, or can be opened later by pressing
z-N or choosing File | New.

To follow along with the descriptions in the following sections, select the Budget template
and click Choose. This opens the Budget template, which is already set up and ready to go.
Organize Data with the Sheets Pane
The Sheets pane on the left side of the window helps you to organize the information in your
spreadsheet. It also lists all tables and charts that are part of a sheet, which Figure 7-9 illustrates.

Arrange Data with Tables
Tables neatly arrange data into categories separated by rows and columns, as shown in Figure 7-10,
the upper-left table from the Budget template.
