Make a Simple Spreadsheet from Scratch
You??™ve learned the bare-bones basics of using a spreadsheet template, so now it??™s time to create a
new spreadsheet from scratch. We??™ll make a small weekly expenses table to get you going. This
is meant to be a very basic tutorial for making a simple spreadsheet, and not every function of
Numbers is discussed.
Choose File | New and choose Blank for the template. Click the Tables button in the toolbar
and select Plain from the list of options. Numbers inserts a new table at the bottom of the sheet.
Add Rows and Columns
Make the number of columns in our table eight and the number of rows five. Dragging the table
handles is the simplest way to add rows and columns to your new table, as illustrated previously
in Figure 7-12.
