"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Without the proper drivers installed, your Mac may not print correctly to your printer, if it can
print at all.
174 How to Do Everything: Mac
Mac OS X comes with a variety of preinstalled printer drivers from several major printer
manufacturers. If drivers for your particular printer are already installed, you will have very little
difficulty installing your printer. If drivers for your printer aren??™t already installed, check whether
your printer included installation CDs or DVDs in the box; if so, they will handle the installation
of the driver files for you automatically. If you still have problems, consult your printer
manufacturer for instructions on finding and installing the driver files; you likely can download
the drivers from the Web.
Be sure to install your printer??™s driver files before you connect the printer to your Mac
or network. This greatly increases your chances for a successful installation on the first try.
Installing the driver files does not complete the installation of your actual printer, though. That
procedure is covered in the following section.
