Click the printer??™s name to highlight it,
and your Mac will ???talk??? to the printer to find out what information it can from it, such as what
driver it should be using, whether it is a color or black-and-white device, and so forth. Notice
the Print Using pop-up menu near the bottom of the printer browser window; it should reflect
the manufacturer and model of your printer. If it does, click the Add button in the bottom-right

corner to complete your printer installation; if it does not, click the Print Using pop-up menu and
manually choose the manufacturer and model, as shown next, and then click Add.
The name of your printer now appears in the list on the left side of the Print & Fax
preferences pane and is ready to accept print jobs (see Figure 8-3).
Connect Your Printer via a Network
Macs play equally as nice with network printers. Connect your printer to the network by
inserting one end of your Ethernet cable into the printer??™s Ethernet port and the other end into an
available port on your router.
