"How to Do Everything: Mac"

TCP/IP is a reliable protocol, is speedy, and is universal across any network that accesses
the Internet. In some cases there is no alternative.
180 How to Do Everything: Mac
As with USB, your Mac should begin talking to the printer to gain some information from it,
and the Print Using field should match the manufacturer and model of your printer (if it does not,
click the Print Using pop-up menu and manually choose the manufacturer and model). Click the
Add button in the bottom-right corner, and your printer will show up in the list on the left side of
the Print & Fax preferences pane. Your Bonjour or AppleTalk printer is ready to roll!
Using TCP/IP? Click the IP tab in the printer browser window. Consult your printer??™s
documentation for information on the correct protocol to use (IPP, LPD, or Socket), and then
enter the Address and Queue information (if needed).
The Name and Location fields should automatically populate, but feel free to change them
if you like (see your printer??™s documentation for more information if necessary). You may need
to manually select the manufacturer and model of your printer in the Print Using pop-up menu
when using TCP/IP.
