"How to Do Everything: Mac"

The Supply Levels tab shows you the amounts
remaining for your printer??™s consumables. You can also get this information by clicking
the Supply Levels icon in the upper-right corner of the queue window. Whether this
information displays or not is controlled by the printer??™s manufacturer and also may be
limited by the way the printer is connected to the Mac.
Troubleshoot Printer Installation Problems
Did your printer installation not work out quite as planned? Here are a few common problems
and what you can do to try to resolve them:
?–  My printer??™s name doesn??™t show up in the printer browser. This is a communications
problem. The cable might be bad or might be connected to the incorrect port or to
a damaged or nonfunctioning port, either on USB or a network router. Look for a
connection light above or below the port on the hub or router you connected the printer
to. Consult your hub??™s or router??™s documentation to make sure the state of the connection
light shows that the printer is properly connected and communicating.
?–  The Print Using menu doesn??™t automatically list my printer manufacturer and model.
