"How to Do Everything: Mac"

While QuickTime can open all sorts of multimedia
file types, video is the summit of QuickTime??™s abilities. Audio and picture files are much
more suited to other applications that Apple provides with your Mac, as you??™ll see in
the upcoming chapters. Can QuickTime open audio and picture files? Yes. Is it the best
application for those tasks? No. Just giving you a ???heads up.???

When you first open the QuickTime Player, it automatically opens the Content Guide, which
gives you a glance at some of the newest QuickTime content available on the Web. Clicking
the items in the Content Guide window will automatically open a webpage in Safari or open the
iTunes Store, which I will discuss in much more detail in Chapter 12.
View Video Files

motion picture viewing bliss! You can view several different video file formats natively with
QuickTime. The most popular video formats supported by QuickTime are MOV, AVI, and MPEG
