"How to Do Everything: Mac"

I don??™t believe even the
most battle-hardened QuickTime-platform warrior would argue this point with me.
If you??™re still inclined, open your picture in QuickTime by choosing File | Open File and
browsing your Mac for the picture file.
Enhance QuickTime Playback
While QuickTime is packed with all the latest and greatest technology for making your multimedia
experience the best on any computing platform, it still can??™t compensate entirely for a bad recording.
If your dad left the cover on the video camera??™s lens, QuickTime won??™t magically make video of
your birthday party appear on your Mac. It??™s good, but it??™s not quite that good (yet!).
That caveat having being said, you can enhance the quality of your video and audio files
using QuickTime??™s A/V Controls (see Figure 10-2). Open this tool by choosing Window | Show
A/V Controls.
CHAPTER 10: The Quick and the Time: QuickTime 217
Adjust the following with A/V Controls:
?–  Audio Adjust volume, balance, bass, treble, and pitch shift.
?–  Video Adjust brightness, color, contrast, and tint.
?–  Playback Use Jog Shuttle to rapidly scroll backward and forward in a file, and use
Playback Speed to make your video play at half its normal speed or up to three times
faster than normal.
