If you??™ve ever used an iPod, you probably are familiar with iTunes as well, since the
only way to get music to and from your iPod is through iTunes.
iTunes is the best music software on the planet, bar none. This is the 21st-century way of
doing everything musically. From listening to your tunes to organizing them, there is no easier
way. iTunes has evolved into more than just a music application, though. You can also download
video, such as movies and television shows, via iTunes for viewing with your Mac, iPod, iPhone,
and now Apple TV!
It??™s Your Party and You??™re the D.J.!
Open iTunes by choosing Go | Applications in the Finder and then double-clicking the iTunes
icon. In order to get around in iTunes, you need to know where all the goodies are. Figure 12-1
breaks it down.
Some of the items listed in Figure 12-1 need further explanation:
?– View Choose your favorite way to view your iTunes tracks and album artwork. The
options are Cover Flow view (the coolest and, therefore, my favorite), list view, and
grouped with album artwork.
?– Search Type any information you have for a song, and iTunes lists every item it finds
that meets the criteria.
