"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Import Tracks from CDs
Copying tracks from a CD isn??™t nearly as tough as it may sound, especially to someone who has
never done so before. As with most tasks, Apple actually makes it downright easy. By default,
iTunes is set up to ask whether or not you would like to import the CD. If you want to see how
this process works, click Yes.
258 How to Do Everything: Mac
iTunes begins importing the tracks from the CD, and shows you its progress (see Figure 12-4).
This is really difficult, isn??™t it? NOT!
Did you notice how iTunes recognizes the track numbers and song titles for your CD? That??™s
because iTunes accesses the Gracenote Media Database via the Internet, finds the title of the CD
you are importing, and downloads the list of tracks and songs for it automatically, provided you
are connected to the Internet at the time you are importing.
FIGURE 12-4 See the orange circle with the squiggly line (highlighted)? That??™s the song
currently being imported (green circles with checks have already been
successfully imported).
Add to Library or Import?
Click the File menu and notice that the keyboard shortcuts for ???Add to Library??? and Import
are very similar, the only difference being that Import requires you to press the SHIFT key.
