"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Parental
The purpose of these preferences is fairly obvious: to give parents the ability to limit their kids??™
use, or possible misuse, of iTunes. Restrict access to various sources such as podcasts and the
iTunes Store, and limit availability of multimedia based on ratings.
Create Playlists
Playlists are groupings of tracks that you create and customize. You can create playlists of your
favorite slow songs, dance tunes, country hoedowns, or break-dancing grooves (yes, I grew up in
the ??™80s, but no, I can??™t break dance). Playlists have no limits, unless you plan to burn the playlist
to a CD (discussed in the next section), which would limit the total playing time of items in the
playlist to typically 80 minutes.
There are two types of playlists: standard and Smart.
Create a Standard Playlist
To create a standard playlist, click the New Playlist button in the lower-left corner of the iTunes
window, or choose File | New Playlist. Type a name for your playlist in the Playlist source pane,
and then add tracks to it by dragging them from your Library to the playlist.
