292 How to Do Everything: Mac
How to??¦
?–  Understand what all those options in the System Preferences are
?–  Change the preferences to fit your needs
System Preferences is where you make your Mac bend to your will. With each change you
make to the System Preferences, you shape and mold your Mac so that it will do your
bidding without hesitation and exactly to your specifications. It??™s good to be the king!
To get started on your tour of Mac OS X??™s myriad of preferences panes, choose Apple |
System Preferences. As Figure 14-1 shows, the preferences are divided into four categories:
Personal, Hardware, Internet & Network, and System.
We??™ll explore the four categories and cover the preferences within each of them. Some of
these preferences have been discussed in detail in previous chapters, so they receive only cursory
treatment in this one.
