"How to Do Everything: Mac"

Language
Some applications let you change the languages used to display their menus and dialog boxes. Set
your language preferences for these apps here. You most likely won??™t need to change these options.
?–  Order for sorted lists The language you choose here affects how windows handle
their sorting options.
?–  Word Break This setting changes what happens when a word is double-clicked. Leave
this set to Standard, unless you installed Mac OS X in Japanese, in which case you should
choose Japanese. Only programmers (developers) will want to use the English setting.
Formats
Many nations around the world format dates differently from how it??™s done in the United States,
as well as use different currencies. The Formats tab of the International preferences pane lets you
adjust these formats to your needs, as shown in the following illustration. Measurement format
choices for U.S. and metric are also available here.

Input Menu
As with time and dates, a keyboard??™s formatting is different in many other countries from how it
is formatted in the United States.
