Scheduled Check
Set up your Mac??™s schedule for checking Apple??™s servers for updates. You can have it check them
immediately by clicking the Check Now button.
Installed Updates

troubleshooting system problems.
Speech
This preferences pane enables you to turn on a really cool feature of your Mac: the ability of
your Mac to read the text on the screen to you out loud. But if that??™s cool, the next thing it can do
is ice cold: do what you verbally command it to do! The iMac and MacBook come with a built-in

microphone, which is what allows the Mac to hear you, and speakers, which allow you to hear
the Mac. The Mac mini requires an external microphone.
The Speech preferences pane has two tabs, Speech Recognition and Text to Speech.
Speech Recognition
Click the On button to turn on Speakable Items, allowing your Mac to listen
to your commands. This opens the speech feedback window, which is a round
window with a microphone displayed in its top half.
