Those are the major pros, but as with everything in life, there are some cons, too. The first is
that wireless Internet connections aren??™t as stable as wired connections. Second, while wireless
Internet connections are faster than they used to be, generally speaking, they still aren??™t as fast
as wired connections. The third, and perhaps biggest, drawback is security, or lack thereof. A
wireless router is beaming signals, or broadcasting, in all directions, not just within your home or
office. If you??™re not diligent about reading the documentation that came with your wireless router
and educating yourself on how your wireless network works, you may be providing free Internet

access to everyone in your apartment building, not to mention allowing unfettered access to the
information on your Mac??™s hard disk. While that may sound like you??™d be doing a good deed,
you really would not be, when you consider that the guy downstairs may be a hacker just waiting
to get whatever personal information he can from your computer and those of other people
around you.
