This guide walks you through the process of setting up your AirPort device fairly simply.
(Of course, you must have an Internet connection to access this site.) Apple provides this
information for customers who are wired to the Internet and want to break free of those
tethers by using an AirPort Base Station.

Connect Wirelessly with Your Mac
If you used the Network Setup Assistant and are connected to the Internet (open Safari and try to
access a webpage to find out), then you are already connected wirelessly if there are indeed no
Ethernet cables going from your Mac to the router.
Choose Apple | System Preferences | Network to check your connection to the Internet.
The Status section tells the story. If you are connected, it tells you so, and lets you know the
name of the wireless network you??™re using, which in my case is GDSHOME.

If instead you see this Status message,
simply click the Turn AirPort On button.
Okay, so what if AirPort is on, but you aren??™t connected to a network? You see the following
