"How to Do Everything: Mac"

This service allows applications on other Macs to send Apple Events to the
applications on your Mac. Keep this service turned off unless directed by your IT staff to use it.
Xgrid Sharing
Here??™s another one of those ???what the heck is this???? items. Actually, as obscure as it is to most
home computer users, Xgrid is a pretty cool feature that??™s meant for computationally intensive
environments such as a lab. Enabling Xgrid on your Mac allows an Xgrid server on your network
to use your Mac??™s computational power when you??™re not using your Mac. You are essentially
sharing your Mac??™s processor with the server. This allows heavy computations to be performed
much faster by sharing the workload between many computers. Click the Configure button to set
up the Xgrid options for your Mac.

Internet Sharing
This service quite simply lets you share the Internet connection of your Mac with other
computers on your network. Use this service if you have only one Mac connected to your ISP.
For instance, one Mac can connect directly to the cable or DSL modem, and use the Internet
Sharing service to allow other Macs to access the Internet through it.
