Attachments can be anything, from text files
to pictures to entire applications, but be sure that the size of the attachment isn??™t too large for the
server you are sending it too. Also check with your ISP to see if it limits the size of files that you
can send as attachments. If the attachment is too large, the recipient won??™t get the attachment,
and may not get the email at all. Either your ISP or that of the person you are sending the email
to will notify you if the email is unable to be sent or received.
392 How to Do Everything: Mac
To attach a file to an email, click the Attachment button in the toolbar, browse the Mac for
the file you need, click the file to highlight it, and then click the Choose File button.
If you plan to send the email to one of your less-fortunate friends who may be running
a Windows-based PC, be sure to check the box called ???Send Windows-Friendly
Attachments.??? This option encodes the attachment in such a way that it is readable by
Windows email applications. It??™s always safe to use this option, whether the recipient
has a Mac or not, because Macs can handle Windows-friendly attachments, too.
