"How to Do Everything: Mac"

?–  Scanner Wouldn??™t it be great to get rid of all those papers on your desk, and not have
to maintain drawers and drawers of files in filing cabinets? Scan that paperwork into
your Mac and you can store it digitally instead! Scanners are also great for moving your
old family photos to digital.
?–  Hard drive At some point you are going to have so much data on your Mac??™s built-in
hard drive that it can hardly breathe, and it will tell you so. One solution is to delete some
of your data, but what if it??™s all so important you can??™t afford to lose any of it? An external
hard drive is the way to go. You can instantly increase your storage capacity without
having to crack open your Mac??™s casing, and an external hard drive is portable, too. If you
plan to use Time Machine (see Chapter 24) an external drive is a must-have.

?–  Digital video camera Your Mac, in conjunction with iMovie, is a whiz at editing
digital video, so if you want to make movies on your Mac, you??™ll be connecting your
digital video camera to it at some point.
