"How to Do Everything: Mac"


My Mac Won??™t Power Up!
You??™re pushing the power button, but your Mac refuses to come to life. Here are a few things to
look for:
?–  Check the obvious. Are your power cables or adapters connected on both ends? If you??™re
connected to a power strip, be sure to check that the power switch is in the on position.
?–  Is the battery charged? If you are using a MacBook, you have to be on the lookout for
your battery??™s charge level. Connect your power adapter to see if the MacBook will

start with it. If your battery has a hard time holding a charge, you may need to have it
replaced. Consult your MacBook??™s documentation for help.
?–  Is the power outlet you are connected to working? Try connecting the power cord to a
different outlet, or connecting a different device to the outlet your Mac is using.
?–  Have you connected another device to your Mac recently? If so, disconnect the device
and try turning the Mac on again. If it does come on, there may be a conflict of some sort
with the device and your Mac. If it??™s a device that connects through USB, try connecting
it to a different USB port to see if the port you were connecting to may have a problem.
