"How to Do Everything: Mac"

If the device works properly without the
hub, the likely culprit is the hub itself or a port on the hub.
?–  Install the latest drivers for your device. Check the website of the manufacturer of your
device to see if it has released new drivers for your device. If it has not, try reinstalling
the drivers that came with it.
?–  Contact the manufacturer of the device. When all else has failed, contact the manufacturer
of the device in question. Oddly enough, the concept of calling the company that makes
the problematic product is the last thing that comes to mind for some people. Of course,
the opposite is also true; some people will contact the maker of the product over and over,
never thinking that it may just be the Mac that has the real issue.
?–  Check for device incompatibility. Sometimes devices may conflict with one another,
causing one or more of them to not work properly. To see if this is the issue, remove all
devices except your mouse and keyboard, unless you have a MacBook, in which case
remove any external mouse or keyboard you??™ve attached. Restart the Mac and make certain
the mouse and keyboard are working properly.
