Why so few? Well, there just isn??™t much of a threat from viruses when you??™re using a Mac. The
reasons vary for this anomaly, but it??™s still the reality. Some may argue that the Mac is based
on UNIX, and is therefore more difficult to write viruses for. Others would cry ???Rubbish!??? at
that notion, arguing that since there are fewer Macs than Windows-based PCs in the world,
malicious hackers would rather do a lot of damage than a little, so they concentrate all their
efforts on bringing down Microsoft. More sensible folk tend to agree that it??™s probably due to a
combination of both reasons.
