When All Else Fails, Reinstall or Restore
To quote a famous song from long ago, ???you got to know when to hold ??™em, know when to fold
??™em.??? With apologies to Kenny Rogers, that holds true for computer troubleshooting as much as
it does for poker. Sometimes, when all else has failed, and your poor hair lies in clumps at your
feet, some strands of which may still be clinging to the sweat of your palms after you so violently
dislodged them from your scalp in frustration, it??™s simply time to start over entirely.
Or not! Apple has given you one more reprieve before you are limited to blowing the whole
hard drive completely away. You can attempt to reinstall Mac OS X without erasing the disk.
Before doing anything else, back up if at all possible.
