Consult Mac OS X??™s Help System
Mac OS X has a wonderful help system that??™s actually helpful! There??™s a surprisingly large
amount of help offered within Mac OS X, for both the operating system and the applications
your Mac shipped with, so you may be able to solve most of your riddles without even leaving
the friendly confines of the world??™s best operating system.
Typically the last heading in an application??™s menu bar is Help. Click the Help menu and
choose Help for the application you are using. For instance, if you??™re in the Finder, the Help
menu displays Mac Help, and if you??™re in Safari, you see Safari Help (along with a few other
selections).
Figure 21-1 shows the Safari Help window. Other Help windows are similar in layout, with
links to frequently asked questions and main topics, as well as an index of the subjects broached
in the help system.
Browse the help topics listed to learn more about the particular application, or type a subject
into the search field to find specific information. You can also click the Index button to see the
index of help topics available listed by the first letter of the topic.
