There seems to be an intrinsic bond between computers and automobiles, at least when it
comes to analogies, and I??™m about to spring one on you.
Your beautiful, shiny new car runs like a top, purrs like a kitten, rides smoother than silk, and
is responsive to your every touch. At least for the first few thousand miles, that is. Eventually
the tires wear or become misaligned, you feel more play in the brakes and they squeal loudly
when the pedal is pressed, the ride is a little bumpier than it was a couple of months ago, and
the engine is starting to seem a little sluggish.
