"How to Do Everything: Mac"

What would you do if this were your car? If you
are a responsible owner, you will have the tires changed and balanced and have the alignment
checked, have the brake pads replaced, have the shocks inspected, and check the oil, filters,
and plugs. All of these tasks are normal maintenance items that your ride needs and deserves to
prevent breakdowns at the least opportune times. You spent a lot of money on your car, so you??™re
going to take good care to see that it performs to the best of its ability.
Think of your Mac in the same vain. You spent several pockets-full of change on this purchase,
too, and if you??™re like most computer users, some of your most important data and information
resides on it. Keeping your Mac maintained and updated is as important to its functionality as is the
maintenance you provide your other high-dollar devices, including your automobile.
Check for Updates with Software Update
Apple is very good about releasing timely updates to Mac OS X and its other software offerings
(Safari, iTunes, iPhoto, and so forth). These updates resolve problems that weren??™t discovered at
the time the operating system or application was first released.
