Imagine all of that is on your Mac, and then one day??”POOF!??”it??™s all gone. A lightning bolt
zapped it away, or your three-year-old child thought your Mac needed a bath so she put it in the
sink and turned the water on, or your laptop was crushed beneath a cast-iron set of dumbbells.
This sounds like a nightmare to most folks, but not to you. Oh, that??™s right! Not to you! Why
not? Because you??™re smart enough to back up your system, so at most you may have lost a few
e-mails containing bad jokes or profane spam messages. You had the foresight to keep copies of
all your most important files in a safe place. You thought ahead, remembering to back up your
Mac on a regular basis or whenever you made big changes to it. You understand that bad things
can happen to good people, so it??™s best to be prepared. You are a smart computer user.
If your Mac has crashed, and the statements in the prior paragraph don??™t sound like they
describe you, you??™re possibly up a creek without the proverbial paddle. Is your data recoverable?
The best answer I can give you is ???maybe,??? but you??™ll have to pay (sometimes dearly) to get it
back.
