"How to Do Everything: Mac"

To get a peek at the file, I click the Quick
Look icon in the Finder toolbar and see the following:
CHAPTER 24: Back ??™er Up: Using Time Machine 483
4. Yep, that??™s it! That??™s my file! I close the Quick Look window by clicking the Close
button, which looks like a circle with an ???x??? in the middle.
5. I click the Restore button, and my file is WHOOSHED through time and space to the
present.
It doesn??™t get any easier, better, or cooler than that!
Summary
Now that you know how to back up, the next step is to actually do it. As terrible a feeling as having
computer troubles can be, it??™s a million times worse when you think you may have lost months??™
or years??™ worth of work forever. Whether you like Time Machine, or even some other third-party
backup utility, do yourself a favor by actually using it. You??™ll thank me later for being so insistent.
Restore an Entire Disk
with Time Machine
God forbid your entire hard disk drive should ever crash, but if it does, and you??™ve regularly
backed up your Mac, at worst you may only lose a few days of information.
